ARTISAN FIRE STARTER™

The handcrafted Artisan Fire Starter™ is one of our longest-selling Ferro rods. It's more traditional in style and also includes one of our Stealth Fire Strikers and a piece of natural fatwood. Fatwood is renowned as one of the best natural fire starters, it boasts remarkable water resistance and high flammability.

The Artisan includes a hardwood wood-turned handle. We designed the handles to be easily gripped. The handles have been sanded and sealed with multiple coats of natural wood oil to protect against water and highlight the natural grain.

All of our Ferro Rods are manufactured using our Forest Fundamentals Ferrocenium™ blend. We tried and tested numerous Ferro Rod compositions till we had perfected the optimum balance between softness and durability. Our Ferro Rods throw down large showers of molten sparks, but we were also careful not to make the rods too soft to ensure longevity.

The Artisan comes with our new Stealth Fire Strikers™. Designed from scratch and manufactured from heat-treated Steel, this striker will surpass all of your fire lighting needs. The Artisan comes with a piece of natural fatwood. Fatwood is renowned as one of the best natural fire starters, it boasts remarkable water resistance and high flammability. Using the Ferro Rod striker and the Fatwood you can develop key bushcraft skills including batoning, creating ‘feather sticks’, and shavings.

Learning these invaluable fire-lighting skills will provide the perfect base for mastering the art of fire-craft using natural resources.

We have chosen to use 550 'Survival' paracord for the lanyard. This cord includes materials including copper wire, fishing line, waxed jute, and parachute cord. These materials serve a multitude of purposes in the field, including repairing shoelaces, fishing, constructing snares, building shelters, and more.
