NESTING STOVE SYSTEM.

After two years of development, we're pleased to announce the launch of our new Titanium Nesting Stove and components.

All of the stove's additional components are designed to integrate within the nesting system to create a compact, efficient, all-in-one water and cooking system that works with solid fuel, alcohol burners, and wood fuel.

When purchased alongside the stove, all add-on accessories are available with 15% off. The discount is automatically applied at checkout.

Our Experience: Using And Optimising The Nesting Stove System

The nesting system has no fixed setup – how you configure it and what gear you store inside the stove largely depends on personal preference, trip style, and duration.

That said, there's certain pieces of gear that most people carry. We've been using the full nesting system for a while now, and along the way, we've picked up a few tips and tricks that might help you make the most of it.

We hope you find it useful! If you have any questions about using your existing gear, feel free to reach out. Please see the individual listings for detailed dimensions.

Nesting stove system overview

Different Cup, Pot & Bottle Combinations

We've found carrying the 750 ml Titanium cup, plus a plastic 32oz wide-mouth bottle preferable compared to carrying a metal bottle.

The 750 ml covers all of our boiling needs – just 2–4 boils for a full day's water supply for one person.

Compared to stainless steel bottles, plastic versions also significantly reduce weight.

However, carrying a stainless steel or titanium bottle, like the Pathfinder 32oz, offers greater boiling capacity – useful when boiling water for multiple people at once.

We've found the 750 ml more than large enough to eat from – mainly rice and beans! Which also saves carrying an extra eating tray.

Although, it can be frustrating having to clean the food off the 750 ml before making coffee or tea.

I've recently started carrying a 750 ml cup at the bottom of the bottle and a smaller 300 ml cup on top.

The upgraded stove bag accommodates a 750 ml container at the bottom and a 300 ml on top of the bottle, keeping all items secure, and prevents any rattling.

Organising Water, Fire, And Cleaning Bits

Anyone who's spent time outdoors knows that staying organised is key.

Losing gear can be dangerous, but even just rummaging around for it in the freezing cold is frustrating enough!

Within the nesting system, we like to organise gear into two kits – one for water, and one for fire.

In the fire kit, we include a few essentials including a lighter, a small ferro rod (the 3" Hive), some tinder (2 Stealth wicks), and a few back-up solid fuel tabs.

The fire kit packs neatly into one of our round zip pouches and is stored at the bottom of the stove.

The water kit mainly includes electrolyte tablets, water purification tablets, and a Millbank bag.

This kit needs a little extra space due to the Millbank bag, so we store it in the front pocket of the upgraded stove bag.

This pocket also has a waterproof plastic insert, so if you don't have time to dry the Millbank bag, you can toss it in and get moving without soaking the inside of your pack.

Storing Other Gear In The Nesting System

Whether heading into the woods for an afternoon or a multiple day trip, there are a few essential items we always pack into the nesting system.

A good-quality spork is stored in one of the external pockets on the upgraded stove bag.

The pockets on the upgraded stove bag will also accommodate larger utensils, secured in place with elastic webbing.

I always pack a small scouring pad for cleaning and a cotton rag or bandana for drying, stored in a zip-lock bag and placed in one of the external pockets of the upgraded stove bag.

If there's any rattling inside your nesting system, wrapping a bandana around the items is also a great way to fix this.

Another item I carry in the nesting system is a small alcohol stove – a great backup, especially in low temperatures.

Within the nesting system, the alcohol stove is stored inside the base of the nesting stove. I also pack as much as possible from the fire kit inside the tin, with the remaining items tucked around the edges of the alcohol burners.

Unfortunately, the nesting system doesn't have enough space for fuel, so it is typically carried separately.

Stove Measurements

Nesting Cups, Bottles, and Pots

The stove is intended to nest with standard size 750 ml cups with the cross supports slotted down the sides of the stove.

For additional details on why we chose the 750 ml cup size, please refer to the information provided above.

The majority of 750 ml cups from brands including Snow Peak, Toaks, MSR, and Vargo are all standard sizes.

The stove will also accommodate 750 ml size cups with bail handles.

The diameter of standard size 750 ml cups is approximately 95 mm (3.74").

When nesting the 750 ml cup size with the stove, a 4–5 mm gap is maintained between the stove's edge and the cup walls to allow for slight variations in cup dimensions.

The 750 ml size will also nest perfectly with various 32 oz bottles—including the Nalgenes, Pathfinder wide-mouth bottles, the Stanley Adventure Series, and the Grayl bottles.

That said, any bottle, cup, or pot smaller than the stove's diameter works, and minor rattling can be fixed by stuffing gear around it or wrapping a bandanna.

Stove dimensions for nesting cups, bottles, and pots

Extra Storage in Stove Base

The stove's base is the perfect place to store small essentials like a fire kit and an alcohol burner.

This compartment also nests the solid fuel basin and the griddle plate.

The removable ash-pan plate keeps everything securely in place.

The available space at the base of the stove varies depending on whether you pack the griddle plate or solid fuel basin.

Height of the solid fuel basin: 4 mm (0.15")

Height of the griddle plates: 1 mm (0.04")

Please note: Not all alcohol tins fit in this space. The Trangia and common titanium sizes will not fit. The Forest Fundamentals alcohol tin is guaranteed to fit. Small gear can also be stored inside our burners.

To prevent gear from getting ashy, we also offer Cordura pouches for this space. These are available separately.

General Stove Dimensions

The stove and the add-on Cordura carrying bags are designed to nest and provide storage for all the cooking, fire, and water gear needed for one person.

Since this gear is frequently used on the trails—often several times in one day—we made sure the system remains compact enough to fit into rucksack side pouches or be easily strapped to the exterior of your pack, rather than taking up space in the main compartment.

This helps keep your gear readily accessible without the need to rummage through your pack.

However, we intentionally avoided making the stove too compact.

It remains a fully functional wood stove that accommodates wood of various sizes, delivers ample heat, and provides a stable platform for cooking and boiling large quantities of water.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to buy new gear to nest with the stove?

We've designed the stove to be as versatile as possible, accommodating a wide range of cups and bottles.

Ultimately, it comes down to your preferred gear and whether it fits within the stove's dimensions.

The stoves are designed to nest with standard 750ml cups, including those with bail handles.

Most 750ml cups are standard sizes. Cups from brands like TOAKS, Snow Peak, and MSR will fit within the stove system.

Cups smaller than 750ml will generally fit, though they may leave extra space around the edges.

The extra space is great for storing small essentials like sporks or ferro rods, though some rattling may occur. Wrapping a bandana around the cup will fix any rattling issues.

Most 32oz bottles, including Nalgenes, Pathfinder Bottles, and the Stanley Adventure Series, are designed to nest perfectly with a standard 750ml cup. Grayl bottles also nest well, though there is a bit of extra space around the edges.

Please see the diagram above for the exact measurements.

Will the stove fit my existing alcohol burners?

Most likely, yes — the stoves are designed to accommodate Trangia alcohol burners and other common sizes of alcohol stoves. If you're unsure whether your burner will fit the stove, feel free to reach out and we'll be happy to check the dimensions for you. The stove also comes with detailed instructions on how to accommodate burners of different sizes.

Most alcohol burners will work inside the stove; however, Trangia and other common titanium models won't fit inside the storage compartment at the base. Only Forest Fundamentals Alcohol Tins are specifically designed to fit this space.

Non-FF alcohol burners can still be stored inside the 750ml cup for transport, ensuring they remain part of your nesting system without the need for separate storage.

What fuel types is the stove designed to accommodate?

The stove is specifically designed to accommodate wood fuel, solid fuel tabs (such as hexamine, Esbit, and similar alternatives), and open-flame methylated spirit stoves.

All necessary components for using these fuel types are included as standard, with no additional add-ons required.

The stove includes a solid fuel tray for burning solid fuel tabs and cross beams for supporting alcohol burners.

The stoves can also accept small gas burners — full instructions are included on how to do this.

Does the stove come with a wind shield, and is one necessary?

To keep costs down, a windshield is not included as part of the stove. However, we are currently designing FF windshields, which we hope to make available in the coming months.

In most cases, a windshield isn't needed when using wood, solid fuel, or alcohol burners, as the stove is designed to offer ample wind protection for these fuel types.

Top Tip: In windy conditions, a simple and cost-effective way to enhance wind protection for alcohol burners and solid fuel tabs is to line the inside of the stove with tin foil. When not in use, the tin foil can be neatly wrapped and stored around the edges of the stove.

Does the stove come with a carrying bag?

Yes, the stove includes a cotton drawstring bag as standard. This bag is designed to be spacious enough to accommodate the entire nesting system, including bottles and cups, which is why it is extra long.

There are also options to upgrade to our Cordura carrying bag. This bag is intended to provide extra storage space for any fire, cook, or water gear that doesn't fit inside the nesting system.

It's perfect for storing small essentials like sporks, cooking utensils, a Millbank bag, and a Lifestraw, to name a few examples.

Does the stove come with a warranty, and what does it cover?

The stoves are covered with a 10-year warranty that guarantees protection against defects in workmanship and materials. If you encounter any issues with the stoves, feel free to reach out to us — we're happy to help.

Please note that the warranty does not cover damage resulting from misuse, neglect, or improper handling.

For more info, please click here.

Can the stove accommodate different pot sizes?

The stove is designed for pots of different sizes. For pots that are narrower than the stove's diameter, tent pegs or cross beams can be used to create stable support at different heights, depending on the fuel type being used.

For pots larger than the stove's diameter, they can rest directly on top of the stove, with the cross beams providing additional stability if needed. The three-leg design ensures a secure and balanced setup, even when using heavier or oversized cookware.

Does the stove have features to reduce environmental impact?

Creating a fire-safe stove and adhering to the 'leave no trace' philosophy was a top priority in the design process.

We've incorporated an ash pan to capture all embers and ash produced by the stove. The ash pan is slightly elevated to prevent heat damage to the ground.

The main feeding port of the stove is intentionally slightly raised. During testing, we found that a lower opening allowed burning wood to spill out, increasing the risk of fire outside the stove.

As a multi-fuel stove, it provides versatility to comply with different fire regulations and restrictions.

Depending on the environment, you can adapt the fuel source to accommodate bans on open fires or alcohol stoves.

What materials are used and where are the stoves made?

Currently, production of the stoves takes place overseas due to high minimum order quantities in the UK.

However, all assembly is completed in the UK. The Sheffield-based metal fabricators require a minimum starting order of 1,000 units.

Once we reach this production scale, we fully intend to move manufacturing to the United Kingdom.

What is the delivery time on the stoves?

We ship all orders within 1–2 days.

Delivery times:
UK: 2–4 days
EU: 3–6 days
USA: 4–7 days

If delays occur, we'll notify you promptly. All international orders include door-to-door tracking.
